Snack Time – eatKeenwa Krunch

I was fading at work the other day, and needed a snack to get me through. I headed downstairs to the nearby deli, and scanned the snack wall when I got there. I wanted something with protein and fiber to keep me satiated, but was also craving something sweet. It wasn’t a day to cave into cookies or chocolate because I knew I’d feel bad (physically and emotionally), and just want more when I was done. Energy bars, for the most part, are just a slightly healthier version of cookies in my mind, unless I’m doing some serious physical activity. Fruit and nuts weren’t going to cut it.

Further down the snack wall I saw something new. A bag of something called “eatKeenwa Krunch Quinoa Clusters” was hanging there next to bags of nut clusters and granola. What an interesting idea! I’ve often though about making energy bars out of quinoa or amaranth. I read the ingredients and nutritional info, and thought this was a great option. There was a really small ingredient list, which is always a plus. Quinoa was the first ingredient, which means it contains more quinoa than any other ingredient. Lots of energy bars list rice syrup or some other sweetener as the first ingredient, which tastes great, but is more sugar than my body can use while sitting at a desk.

I bought the vanilla almond raisin flavored clusters and gave them a try. They were really delicious, and gave me the energy I needed to get through the day. The texture was really light and crunchy. The flavor was nutty and sweet, but sugar content was relatively low. I’m looking forward to trying the other flavors! Quinoa is a healthy, gluten free food that contains lots of vitamins and minerals, healthy fats, fiber and amino acids. It is often referred to as a whole grain, but is actually a seed. It’s great stuff for eating and snacking!

Definitely give eatKeenwa Krunch Quinoa Clusters a try!

  1. I tried these and thought they were TOO crunchy – they hurt my teeth. Maybe I got a bad batch. It did taste good though!
