On my recent trip to the west coast, I was fortunate to have a friend recommend Cinnaholic. I’m so happy I went a little out of my way from San Francisco to try it! The most indulgent thing I ate on my entire vacation, Cinnaholic is aptly named, as it is totally addictive.

Cinnaholic is a 3 year old establishment in Berkeley, California, owned by husband and wife duo¬†Florian Radke and¬†Shannon Michelle Radke. All of their products are 100% vegan, dairy & lactose free, egg free and cholesterol free. Aside from the traditional “Old Skool” cinnamon roll (cinnamon roll with vanilla frosting), they offer a variety of flavors and toppings, so you can customize your own, or go with one of the sample combinations on display in the shop. The flavored icing is mixed to order. You pretty much can’t go wrong here.

Cinnaholic is marketed simply as “Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls”. They are award-winning, and absolutely delicious. I found it really interesting that nowhere in the store was there any mention of them being vegan. In fact, I double checked with the server before ordering just to be sure. It’s been my experience that people are sometimes deterred by the term “vegan”, so I understand why the folks at Cinnaholic may have omitted that word from their in-store marketing.

Hopefully Cinnaholic will continue to thrive, and expand outside of Berkeley. Until then, you can order online or stop in if you’re ever in the area.
